Lot Valley Exploration along the river

Rising from Mont Lozère, the Lot crosses 5 départements, including northern Aveyron, from east to west, before ending its course in the Garonne. Travel through our territory to explore its high, verdant valley, meander through its gorges and reach its meeting point with the Truyère. The Lot Valley invites you to follow its winding course and discover the remarkable heritage of our medieval villages, crossed by the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela. From suspended hamlets to vine-covered hillsides, admire the most sublime panoramas.

Most beautiful villages in the Lot valley

It’s on the banks of the Lot, the Olt in Occitan, that our villages have been established, some of which pin it to their name like a precious jewel. Whether medieval or picturesque, perched in the heart of the vineyards like Le Fel, or classified as the ” Most Beautiful Villages in France ” like Saint-Côme-d’Olt with its twisted bell tower, or Estaing with its imposing castle, they dot the Lot valley like pearls of authentic beauty. Enter their unspoilt streets to discover their hidden treasures.

Espalion

Along the Lot Valley and in the heart of the Terres d’Aveyron, Espalion marks a stage on the mythical route to Santiago de Compostela. With its remarkable heritage, Espalion and its neighbors Saint-Côme-d’Olt and Estaing form a section of the GR®65, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its historic heart lies under the protective gaze of the Château de Calmont d’Olt. From the emblematic Renaissance Palace next to the Pont Vieux to the unusual Musée du Scaphandre, let yourself be surprised by its emblematic and religious monuments.

Freshness break along the Lot

The Lot Valley, Aveyron’s natural jewel, offers an idyllic setting for a wide range of water sports. On its banks or those of the boraldes, on the nearby dam lakes, there are numerous fishing areas to suit a variety of practices. Departing fromEspalion orEntraygues-sur-Truyère, our two nautical bases will delight those who prefer paddling, with several options for canoeing down the Lot. Two routes on this river for two unique experiences.
