Espalion market 100% local flavours

A veritable institution, the Espalion market is one of the finest and best-stocked in the valley. Every Friday morning, producers from Aubrac, the Lot Valley and Causse Comtal come together in a whirlwind of colors and flavors, selling locally-producedfruits, vegetables, meats and charcuterie, as well as farmhouse cheeses and Aveyron specialties.

Stretching around boulevard Joseph Poulenc and almost the entire length of the Rue Droite, the pedestrian shopping street that runs alongside the Pont Vieux, it offers a joyful immersion in local life, with seasonal produce andtraditional Aveyron cuisine.

Our night markets Summer atmosphere

The aligot will be piping hot, the farçous will be wriggling in the pans, the Occitan will be chatting at the table, and to ward off the secade – you’ll be served a glass of local wine or a pti rataf’*. In short, it’s a festive, good-natured atmosphere you’ll remember for a long time to come! It’s THE place to be this summer to sample Aveyron specialities in a friendly, festive atmosphere.

  • What can we expect?

Depending on the market, our producers cook and prepare their specialities on the spot: aligot, farçous, truffade, grilled meat and sausages, snails, hot goat’s cheese… the choice is yours ! And don’t forget the cheese and desserts, including goat’s milk and farmhouse ice creams, yoghurts with jams and other sweet delights.

Once you’ve ordered your food, sit down wherever you like! Large tables and benches are available, so you can meet new people and have a great time!

Most markets feature one or more local bands. Discover our local talents and get acquainted with the Occitan language, which is sometimes used in the songs.

Our advice: To limit waste, and the work of our municipal staff, don’t hesitate to bring your own cutlery, plates and reusable glasses!

  • What's the date?

Night markets take place during the summer season, often from late June to mid-September, depending on the village.

Our two “Marché de Producteurs de Pays” markets take place on Wednesday evenings in Entraygues-sur-Truyère and Espalion. Depending on the season, they can be combined with the Son et Lumière d’Estaing, which starts at dusk.

    Our other night markets:

    • Estaing, Friday evening
    • Coubisou (Maison de la Vigne et du Vin), Saturday evening
    • Saint-Côme-d’Olt and Le Nayrac, 2 dates between July and August
    • Bozouls, one date in July
