Swimming and dipping The splash break

Here, we don’t promise you a dip in the sea or blue water as far as the eye can see, but riversides that open onto picturesque villages, or more secret, unspoilt corners where you can enjoy simple moments. Creeks, rivers and lakes invite you to take a refreshing dip. Get your mats and picnics ready, put on your goggles, hats and swimsuits, and grab your landing nets and fishing rods to spice up your swim and turn it into a refreshingly unusual micro-adventure!

A refreshing break in natural waters By the riverside

Between Saint-Côme-d’Olt and Entraygues-sur-Truyère, the Lot offers you its banks and requires your caution in areas where swimming is tolerated but not supervised, and rising waters remain a possibility due to the proximity of dams.

More discreet than the large rivers that criss-cross our territory, the brooks, boraldes and Dourdou invite you for a moment out of time. Sheltered by the woods into which they often flow, they will be your bulwark against the hustle and bustle of the cities and your haven for disconnection.

On the banks of our waterways, nature is constantly on the alert, and you may be lucky enough to spot an otter or a heron, or catch a crayfish as your children gaze in wonder! It’s also an incredible source of inspiration. Why not defy gravity by attempting a pebble sculpture, or bring to life a small water mill made from simple pieces of carved wood? It’s enough to create eternal memories of your vacation.

Swimming tips In the lakes

Between the Lot and Truyère rivers, the construction of hydroelectric dams has given rise to artificial reservoirs that are an invitation to picnic, relax and enjoy water sports. However, not all our lakes are suitable for swimming, but they can be perfect fishing spots*!

So where can you safely take a dip this summer?

Just 30 minutes from the Lot Valley, the Saint-Gervais, Galens and La Selvelakes each have their own beach, and most have supervised swimming. With their picnic areas, shaded areas and children’s play areas, they’re perfect for the whole family!

On Plage des Tours at Lac de Maury in Saint-Amans-des-Côts, Aqu’Aloa has created the largest water park in Aveyron! Slides, slides, catapults and trampolines guarantee plenty of splashing and laughter! At Lac des Galens, a number of inflatables are available free of charge.
